Apple Sausage Stuffing

This apple sausage stuffing is a hearty and flavorful dish that blends savory pork sausage with sweet, crisp apples. A comforting and popular holiday side, it combines a perfectly seasoned bread base with aromatic vegetables and herbs.

Ingredients
- 1 lb. Sweet or Spicy Sausage
- 1 Lg Onion, diced
- 2 tsp Poulry Seasoning
- 1 tsp Fresh Thyme
- 1 Large Apple, peeled and chopped
- 3 Cups Chicken or Turkey Stock
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Salt
- 16 Cups White Bread, toasted
- 2 Eggs
- 1/4 Cup Parsley, chopped
Directions
- Melt the butter in a large skillet, then add the sausage to brown breaking up with a wooden spoon. When the sausage is almost all browned, add in the diced apple, onion, poultry seasoning and thyme. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Stir in the chicken broth and let simmer 10 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste.
- Toast the bread slices until golden brown and cut into large cubes.
- In a large bowl, combine the eggs (beaten) and the chopped parsley. Add in the toasted bread cubes. Pour the sausage and chicken broth mixture over the top and gently toss until all ingredients are combined.
- Pour into buttered 9 x 13 casserole dish. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes covered with foil. Take away the foil and bake another 20 minutes until crispy on top.
