Slow Cooker Steak Bites
Crockpot Steak Bites are a delicious and easy steak bite that is seasoned perfectly and seared before tossed in the slow cooker. Tender, juicy steak served over noodles, potatoes, or even rice.
  • Prep Time:
  • Cook Time:
  • Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • (3 lbs. cut and diced) Sirloin Strip Steak
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 small sweet onion thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic thinly sliced
  • (1 cup) Beef Stock
  • 1 ounce packet au jus gravy mix
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter thinly sliced

Directions

  1. Place the steak into a large bowl with the salt and pepper and toss to combine.
  2. Get a large skillet hot over medium-high heat and add half of the oil. Sear off the steak pieces in batches and place them into an 8-quart slow cooker. Add more oil to the pan if needed.
  3. Once all the steak is seared, add the onion and garlic to the slow cooker, toss with the steak bites.
  4. Pour in the beef stock. Sprinkle the au jus packet over the top. Lay slices of the butter over the top.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low 6-8 hours. Stir every 30 minutes or so if you can. Serve with a garnish of fresh parsley if desired.

Can I use any type of steak for steak bits in the slow cooker?

Any type of steak like sirloin, tenderloin, beef stew meat or even ribeye will work.

Do I need to sear the steak before adding it to the crockpot?

While searing is not a must, it is going to deepen the flavors of the beef. We highly recommend not skipping that step of making the steak bites.
